- DIY: download JCED’s simple home energy checklist and head to the attic and basement. It’ll take about an hour and will tell you where you’re losing money. JCED’s webpage “Steps to Saving Money on Energy” tells you how;
- Johnson County-funded energy audits: Johnson County homeowners can sign up for a free audit with the Green Iowa Americorps (GIA). You’ll get a summary and recommendations for needed improvements. For more information and to sign up, go to the GIA website or call 319-339-5399.
- JCED’s Home Energy Auditing and Coaching program offers a comprehensive inventory of major appliances and the “building envelop” (basement, attic, windows and doors) and shows you where upgrades make sense. You’ll accompany our coaches as they walk through your house, receive a written report on findings, priorities, options, and financial assistance.
